About Thai Food

Pad Thai is the most famous food in Thailand and you can find Pad Thai anywhere along the road of Bangkok. I’m sure that Pad Thai is one of the top three foods that the tourists know when they first come to Thailand.

Pad Thai is the food that was discovered by the ex-Prime Minister , General P. Piboonsongkram, of Thailand in the idea of easy food to make and eat. Since it’s very easy to make, so I would like to suggest how to do for you first.

½ lime
1 egg
4 teaspoonsfish sauce
3cloves garlic minced
½ teaspoon ground dried chili pepper ground pepper
1shallot minced
2 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoon tamarind
½ packageThai rice noodles
2 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2-1/4lb shrimp Optional
½ banana flower Optional
1/3cuptofu – extra firm Optional
1-1/2 cup Chinese chives – green Optional
2 tablespoons peanuts Optional
1-1/3 cup bean sprouts Optional
1 tablespoon preserved turnip Optional

How to do:

Soak the dry noodles in lukewarm water while preparing the other ingredients, for 5-10 minutes. Cut tofu into 1 inch long matchsticks. Cut up Chinese chives into 1 inch long pieces. Set aside a few fresh chives for a garnish. Rinse the bean sprouts and save half for serving fresh. Mince shallot and garlic together.

Heat the pan up on high heat and pour oil in it. Add shallot, garlic and tofu and stir them until they start to brown. Add the noodle in it, be careful to stir it quickly to keep things from sticking. Add tamarind, sugar, fish sauce, chili pepper and preserved turnip, in this process u just add the thing in whichever u like. Stir. The heat should remain high. Crack the egg and scramble it until it is almost all cooked. Fold the egg into the noodles. Add shrimp and stir. Add bean sprouts, chives. Stir a few more times. The noodles should be soft and very tangled.

I’m a big fan of Pad Thai. Like most ‘simple’ foods, there is a real art to making it really well, which for some reason the Thai market sellers seem to have the best. I’ve never been able to make it quite as well as the lady at the market near me!
