It looks like some people have to do with out real lime in their Thai food for the moment. The cost of lime in Thailand has gone up from a 50 stang to 10 THB now. Som Tam is one of the most popular dishes using lime and some Som Tam vendors are now using lime powder to save money.
Regular restaurants that serve for example Pla Nung Ma Now has even taken it off the menu to save money. It would not be profitable to sell it anymore.

The lime that sell are also very bad quailty so you need more lime then before. Some farmers say it is the long dry season making this problem. Lets hope next year will bring more rain so that Som Tam can still be cheap and aroi with real lime.
